Privacy Policy for FreePrompter (No Word Limit)

1. Overview

FreePrompter (No Word Limit) ("the App") is an Android teleprompter application developed by Savith Dasanayaka. The App displays scripts on your screen while you record video with your device's camera, and optionally lets you import, edit, and play back .srt subtitle files. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App does and does not handle.

2. Information We Collect

We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal data. The App does not require an account or sign-in, does not request internet access, and does not include any advertising, analytics, tracking, or crash-reporting services.

3. Information Processed on Your Device

The App works entirely offline. The following information stays on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else:

  • Camera and microphone input — used only while you are actively recording a video. Recordings are saved directly to the App's storage on your device.
  • Scripts and subtitle files — scripts you type, paste, or import (.srt) are stored in a local database inside the App's private storage.
  • Recordings — video files are saved to the App's storage on your device. They leave the App only if you explicitly choose to share or export them using Android's share sheet.
  • Settings and preferences — such as font size, scroll speed, and theme, stored locally on your device.

Note: if you have Android's system backup enabled on your device, the operating system may back up App data (such as scripts and settings) to your personal Google account. That backup is controlled by Android and your Google account settings, not by us. Recorded videos are excluded from backup.

4. Permissions and Why They Are Needed

  • Camera — to record video while prompting.
  • Microphone — to record audio with the video.
  • Storage / media access — to import .srt files you select and to save or share recordings.

All permissions are used only to provide these features. You can revoke any permission at any time in Android Settings; features that depend on a revoked permission will stop working.

5. How Information Is Used

Information on your device is used solely to provide the App's features: displaying and scrolling your script, recording video, playing subtitle cues, saving your files, and remembering your settings. We have no access to it.

6. Sharing of Information

We do not share any information with third parties. Nothing is uploaded to us or to any server. If you use the App's share or export buttons, your device's standard share sheet lets you send a recording or subtitle file to an app or service of your choosing — that action is entirely your decision.

7. Third-Party Services

The App includes no third-party advertising (such as AdMob), analytics, or crash-reporting SDKs. It does not connect to the internet and cannot transmit data off your device.

8. Data Retention and Deletion

Because all data stays on your device, you are always in control of it:

  • Delete individual scripts or recordings inside the App at any time.
  • Clear all App data from Android Settings → Apps → FreePrompter → Storage.
  • Uninstalling the App removes its scripts, recordings, and settings from your device.

We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on a server.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children. Because the App collects no data, it collects no data from children.

10. Your Rights

Since we collect no personal data, there is no stored data for us to access, correct, export, or delete on your behalf. You retain full control of the scripts, recordings, and settings on your device. If you have questions about this policy or your privacy while using the App, contact us using the details below.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example if the App's features change. Any update will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
